Abstract
Regulated in the Vienna Convention of 1963, as is known, consulates are a diplomatic figure that is characterized by serving the interests of one State and its nationals present in the territory of another, not so much in representation against the host State as against their own nationals. Hence, they have a dispersed territorial distribution and generally wider and more common in the larger immigrant population centers. Among its functions is the care and assistance to the citizens of the country itself in the territory of implantation, and hence the privileged position they occupy when it comes to becoming the "first line" of defense against the problems or conflicts of their nationals in the destination country. The purpose of this contribution is to know first-hand the consular activity of the countries selected for the sample in relation to the linguistic problems of their nationals when interacting within the Community of Madrid that due to its population level and ability to attract the immigrant population is especially significant in the national environment. The cooperation granted by the selected countries has been uneven, but the results obtained in their responses to the questionnaire are surprising due to the practical unanimity in the sense of considering that the linguistic integration of their respective nationals has not been a special problem for the entity. enough to require the provision of consular assistance in the face of different administrations or eventual conflicts.
