Resumo
In recent times we have been witnessing incessant and continuous social, political and economic changes that have had a notable impact on the workplace. These disruptions and job reconfigurations have also emerged in the teaching field and have had a considerable impact on professional performance. The new educational and social scenarios demand committed and involved teachers, capable of facing the convulsive challenges that arise, which hinders, on many occasions, their performance in the classroom. Thus, the search for well-being, satisfaction and the banishment of discomfort, stand as the great challenges that the current teacher must face within educational organizations (Hué, 2008). The present study aims to determine the degree of positive connection with their work and the personal competencies of 291 Secondary Education teachers in the Spanish context. In addition, considering that engagement is an important element for optimal professional development, it is examined to what extent the personal competencies of teachers are linked to the levels of engagement obtained. Thus, after considering these starting objectives and analyzing the results obtained, using a quantitative methodology based on frequentist and Bayesian methods, we can affirm that the personal competencies of practicing teachers are connected with the achievement of high levels of well-being and satisfaction (engagement).
