Abstract
The knowledge society has been overwhelmed by the massive use of information technologies that have come to create an important social, organizational and economic dependency on the data kept in computer files. Universities are not immune to such a revolution, and neither can they evade the regulatory application that regulates the security of electronic data to guarantee both, the fundamental right to the protection of constitutionally protected personal data, as well as defense against threats and vulnerabilities typical of cyberspace. This contribution tries to frame, with a critical spirit, the university activity in the main legal references on the matter.
