Abstract
The present research project, entitled Design and Evaluation of an Educational Project for Teaching Cinematographic Art Direction in Higher Education, establishes as its main purpose the design of an educational proposal that favors the acquisition of the knowledge, abilities, and skills required by art direction today. This project aspires to promote and contribute, through artistic research and teaching practice, to the training of professionals capable of taking on the challenges posed by the current paradigm, dominated by audiovisual imagery and a surge in fiction formats, for which art direction is essential. This specialty represents the necessary hybridization that must take place between artistic and communicative disciplines in order to create products of aesthetic value that respond to the current demands of the industry and the audience. Addressing these common spaces from the formative stage guarantees not only the training of qualified professionals, but also the connection of the university with the characteristics and demands of its environment, where visual and audiovisual language predominates as a means of expression and communication, and where fiction is one of the cultural products that best defines the mass entertainment of our time. The current paradigm demands theoretical reflection and development, through an interdisciplinary approach, of the specialties involved in the aesthetic configuration of the audiovisual image, valuing its possibilities as a means of understanding and visual expression and encouraging the critical and creative character of the students, who are at once spectators and future professionals. Therefore, this approach can be a contribution to academic research, since it is very scarce in the specific field of art direction in our country, which translates into a conceptual and procedural vacuum that affects this discipline and making its pedagogical approach difficult. It also implies claiming the spaces of artistic language in contemporary culture: its research, teaching and professional practice.
